Vice-President Geoff Banks receives a British Empire Medal in the New Year’s Honours list for his services to the community of Cowes.

The Friends of Northwood Cemetery‘s application to be a Charitable Incorporated Organisation has now been accepted by the Charity Commission. The only impact this move has on members is that a revised Constitution (which had already been approved at the Annual General Meeting on 4th September) is now in force – and the Registered Charity Number has changed from 1143817 to 1180926.

With the provision for a President and Vice Presidents passed by unanimous vote at the AGM held on 4th September, yesterday’s Board meeting elected Jon Matthews, who was instrumental in founding the Friends of Northwood Cemetery in 2008, as President and Geoff Banks, Graham Lloyd and Lora Peacey-Wilcox as Vice Presidents. At the 2018 Annual General Meeting all the Officers and Trustees of the Friends of Northwood Cemeterywere unanimously re-elected.
Members also unanimously agreed that the Board should proceed with its application to the Charity Commissionto become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation(CIO), supported by a new Constitution.
